Project: Liberty Southpark CCRC
Location: Charlotte, NC
Client: Choate Construction
Architect: LS3P Associates, LTD

Faced with challenging flooring requirements, Garmon & Company managed to solve the flooring needs of Liberty CRCC Southpark (now known as The Barclay Retirement Community). This Continued Retirement Care Community is housed in the Southpark area of Charlotte, NC.

Garmon & Company seamlessly completed flooring of many different types in all high traffic common areas, kitchens and dining halls, storerooms, health facilities and activity and fitness areas as well as the individual living units.

Garmon’s Expertise Showcased

The project showcased Garmon’s expertise and enhanced its reputation as a leading commercial flooring project management and installation business.

Flooring selected and the materials procured included Kahrs Wood Flooring, Shaw Hospitality Custom, Shaw & Patcraft Broadloom Carpets, Cobalt Surfaces LVT, Forbo MCT Linoleum Tile, Ecore Forest RX Sport Flooring, Tarkett (Johnsonite) Wall Base and Transitions.

Perfect substrate preparation included the Ardex floor methods to provide level and smooth surfaces for all flooring installations.

What Flooring Solutions were Required?

The most important challenges that Garmon & Company faced were that the transitions from different types of flooring had to be slim to avoid trip hazards, and they needed to comply with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).

Quality workmanship and modern design was needed to accommodate the high standards demanded by the residents across all the amenities in the Retirement Care Community. The current population of active adults in this independent living facility has all the upmarket amenities they could wish for.

Naturally, flooring acoustics needed to be minimized in this environment, and Garmon ensured that the acoustical properties were well chosen. The acoustical underlayment products used under flooring surfaces ensure sound absorption as well as giving comfortable foot feel.
